In recent years Matthias Arter has appeared increasingly often as a solo performer and improviser as a complement to his composing and international chamber music career. couleurs sums up his musical work during the last two years of this intermingling of disciplines.  Matthias Arter studied with Thomas Indermühle (Zürich) and Heinz Holliger (Freiburg in Brg.). He is also active as a conductor and teaches at the Musikhochschule des Kantons Bern (Biel).  He excels equally in authentic music on period instruments as well as in new and newest music, resulting in active collaboration with many composers of his generation.
